About Me

Hi! My name is Ann. I am a pre-licensed counsellor currently working under the supervision of Dr. Christopher Brown, RCC.

I grew up in Saskatchewan and attended UCF, UBCO and UBC to complete my undergraduate degree. I have completed my masters degree in counselling at City University of Seattle, Vancouver campus.

My background and perspective are influenced by my experiences as a professional athlete. I have competed at an international level of sport for volleyball. I now enjoying working with high performance individuals often supporting folks to overcome potentials in areas such as sport, music, theater and dance. I have found that taking the time to prioritize all parts of ourselves can free up additional energy and space to excel at what matters most.

I have also worked as a professional visual artist, and enjoy supporting folks in the community: working with fine artists, writers, expressive artists. I have found that the act of art making has brought much joy and meaning to my life.

I enjoy spending time outside, with my partner, and my cat Marv.

My therapeutic approach consistently aligns with my own values of open-mindedness, anti-oppression, and being calmly curious. I enjoy investigating how past experiences can influence the present, looking at what life is calling us to do, to integrate, or let go of.

If you could benefit from support with your mental health, learning new skills, navigating life’s setbacks, or simply having a space to be human, I invite you to reach out. Life can be difficult, and you don’t have to face the difficult parts alone.

Counselling can offer a place to slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and find new ways forward.

How I like to work

I have an appreciation for many different learning styles; And I'm committed to finding the best way that you learn and absorb new information. There are similar tools which I offer and teach my clients, but they are always tailored to the way my clients learn and digest new skills at the right time.

I work from a variety of evidence-based approaches to suit the needs of each person and adjust my direction based on collaborative conversations with my clients. I work from an integrated approach, meaning I use many tools and modalities to fit specific questions and challenges that my clients bring to this work. These include ACT, Somatic tools, CBT, IFS, and narrative focuses, as I continue my trauma training I continue to expand my offerings to clients.

My Training

My work draws on narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, person-centred practice, mindfulness, and somatic approaches. In practice they work as one approach: build awareness of what the body is doing, then look at the story behind it.

Completed training includes:

  • Narrative Therapy Foundations Certificate, Vancouver School for Narrative Therapy (2024)

  • Dementia Care Training, Vancouver Coastal Health (2025)

  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, ASIST (2025)

My graduate research examined team cohesion in high performance sport through a polyvagal lens, looking at how athletes' physiological states affect one another during competition.

Meet with me

First of all, finding a good fit and relationship with a counsellor is a part of the process; We are meeting to see if we are a good fit. Booking a consult is a low-pressure way of meeting to see how it feels

After we have a consult and we decide I might not be the right fit, I am still committed to connecting clients to the care they are looking for, pointing you in the right direction; and am happy to refer you to someone in my wide and incredible network of colleagues.
